Our biggest problem in this battle is that we have NO ENFORCEMENT, because all three branches of what once our government are corrupt to the core. America is no more and it has been turned into a Private for Profit, Foreign owned and Controlled corporation. America is now the USA INC. The Muslim Hadith, which is much like the Jewish Talmud, allows slavery and pedophilia.
The problem, in my opinion, is that people confuse religious scripture with the absolute word of God. That seems silly to me. How does that work? A team of Rosicrucian freemasons translated and edited the Bible into English, and I’m supposed to ignore that and pretend God wrote it? Nonsense. Human herding technology.
God is love. Not words. And until we figure that out we’ll likely be stuck on the farm.

Obviously Bonhoeffer had experienced watching the masses of his nation swept away by the Nazi fervor, which I think he is describing here as "stupidity". I think the best definition of "stupidity" is failure to learn from mistakes; and actually choosing to adhere to bad judgement.
How did Satan convince one third of the angels in heaven to revolt with him? (Rev. 12: 1-10) How do people get swept away so easily now as they did in Bonhoeffer's time?
To be honest, we all need to keep this in mind in our own paths, and be willing to see it when we realize "stupidity" has taken hold, and will destroy every good thing our lives could be.

Perhaps the situation today has developed due to a "mass formation physchosis". As suggested, we are experiencing something similar to what the Germans experienced in the 1930s. The definition:
"Mass formation psychosis is when a large part of a society focuses its attention to a leader(s) or a series of events and their attention focuses on one small point or issue. Followers can be hypnotized and be led anywhere, regardless of data proving otherwise. "
