It took me 4 years to get back in my home after steered Hurricane Charley hit Port Charlotte in 2004. I lost around $120K, my job, and horrendous amounts of time. FEMA made a typo on their award and tried to "re-coup" the award for the next four years.

On their 4th attempt, I convinced their collections attorneys and the agency that contracted them - The Dept of the Treasury, that I was right. But then nobody that they worked with at FEMA would end the recoupment process. And the FEMA department that was their only contact point, just stopped responding to their calls too.

I finally found an old DC phone book and called FEMA's public affairs department. Someone there was kind enough to hook me up with a FEMA accountant working underground in Mount Weather. She ended the nightmare and sent me a document that I would have to save until I died to keep FEMA from coming after me again...

I had a similar experience, FEMA is filled with the most incompetent people they can find. They screwed me out of the ten thousand dollars distributed by the Recover California fund, though I was 100% qualified like everyone else who got the help. They loved seeing me tortured with death threats while I was in the Orland FEAQ Camp. I had to get a restraining order against an filthy old drunken bum, who I was forced to live next too. It took me over 6 months of hell to finally get the evil old freak evicted!

Every month I would get interviewed by these fema goons that make like a quarter of a million dollars each year for walking around with clip boards taking notes and nodding their heads as they did nothing at all to help any of us.

These people are essentially worthless and FEMA SUCKS BALLS!
