I identify with the word disassociation but I think it is more PTSD. I have seen so many horrible things, watched helplessly as my father was transferred from hospital to hospital on a ventilator in the middle of the night and then him being described as a 'new' case on TV the following day, rebuffed calls from Doctors urging me to 'let him go'. Remove the vent, transfer him and put it back in. Helpless to stop it, to protect my Daddy from harm. It was a horror show. My mother developed rapid onset Brain Glioma and is gone. Her spouse died of a massive coronary the week she was diagnosed. My sister in law 'died suddenly' while swimming. It leaves you numb. The Evil we have endured. And survived.
