This stage of our warfare reminds me strongly of the last days before a birth. You cannot sleep long, get comfortable, pee all the time, or move in any way that leaves you comfortable. They are the days that comfort on a physical plane does not exist. Then you get hit with a long period of painful contractions, then birth itself takes over, hopefuly with both participants alive at the end.
Afterward, you feel as though you are sleeping with no end, just utter weariness. Now, hopefully, you have a tiny ticking clock next to you, who demands breastfeeding on its schedule. Don't forget, you are also aching from the birth process & any wounds at that moment. Blissfully, you just sleep for the coming days when you can. Btw, if you have breastfed before, you do not notice it If it is the first time, that is another process that has its share of pain & discomfort which will wear off.
So, yeah, these days that the warfare is undergoing remind me of childbirth. No one wants the hardship at all. All who are true humanitarians want the results.
