Great episode! Music is medicine.

I agree. It both stirs and soothes the soul. It’s always been a huge part of my life and I can’t imagine living without it.

Thank you for the great interview, Greg. Mike is obviously a very talented guy, but the fact that he’s on the same page as us, is both surprising and refreshing ~ most musicians are usually pretty woke. Have a blessed week! 🙏🏻

Beautiful conversation. I can totally relate. Reedy;s Tunes/Reed Marcotte is just coming out live after spending 3 or 4 years writing songs, many of which are inspired by all the BS in the world that is going on, I said what the hell am I going to do with all this material, like 50 songs, so I started rehearsal just by my self, invested in some of these cool stage lights they got now and put a show together,,, just me on guitar and singing to back trax. I'm getting excellent reviews in the pretrial shows I've been running right here in my home studio which I also call Reedy's Tunes and a Fakebook page that spills the latest news and Reedy's One Liners as well as promoting the songs as I created them. I'm just now ready to go live and Fakebook restricts my acct for 30 days UGH!!!. Good talk dudes!

Channelstrips of Neve/API/SSL re-racked from large mixing boards. On out to ProTools warms things up. Most of the hits we heard from way back were recorded through these mixer preamps and EQ's. When you play through them you can hear how they got those sounds.

Yeah "feeling" which is serendipitous, when recording is godsend. Reason many producers leave certain mistakes in if there's this "feeling."

Something brought out in a movie that makes sense is from the movie La Bamba where the producer "Bob Keane" (Joe Pantoliano) made Ritchie Valens (Lou Diamond Phillips) redo parts until Keane got something he could chain together in editing. Valen's brother in the movie couldn't tell the difference. The splicing block on a tape machine is where this tool was used to composite songs together.

Music was guided by the lettered agencies. Alex had Jan Irvin on and Irvin explains this. Timothy Leary was sent to chemically change the mental landscape through musicians with LSD. And then the "coincidences" that certain famous band members had parents who were tied to big military positions and the usual alphabet agencies. Having said that MTV changed from 'Gunter glieben glauchen globen' when accordingly MTV was TOLD to switch from rock to hip hop. Remember when Kriss Kross came out on MTV wearing the backwards pants that Alex calls "prison whore" attire?

Point being the music was being changed to control the masses and people were being made to accept new music and all about social engineering with an agenda behind it.

Music today ( what's being pushed to the masses ) is lost as it was planned.

The Grammys suck more each year.

Yeah a million flies can't be wrong eh..?

Here's a Steely Dan docu that shows how the two worked.

Mike's right, desire is 99% of being an artist, a musician.

And the evil side always figures out something to put a kink in things when creating music. Happens all the time.

But music has to be properly produced in order to attract listeners. Without Martin the Beatles IMO would not have made it. I think it was Irvin who said the Beatles were sent to America to take up the slack from the JFK assassination as the youth were depressed. The Fab Four could not imagine themselves doing that, playing America.

Lots of good music out, it's just being squelched. The vax shed does not help matters for concerts.

Although I prefer closed headphones, ear buds are in. The youth will not want to be buying speakers. Does not interface well with an iPhone portability-wise. The technology has come a long way for head sets.

The concert plan for guys like Incubus guitarist Mike Einziger who co-pioneered Mixhalo to where concert goers will not listen to speaker arrays but through their phones.

Excited to be alive? Yeah that's being screwed with on a daily basis. It's going to take some proper music to wake up the masses.

But Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs when house and home are under siege, music might still be a source of solace. But only to a point.

A lot has changed since 2020.

Thanks for the interview and very energetic inspiring music Mike!
